It's All Inside...

FRIDAY (now)....

(Carried over from yestiddy) I'm splitting listings up between "What's going on" and "Where I'll (likely) be"...in case that makes a difference for you in your planning process. If it does and if you want to acknowledge I make THAT big an impact on whether you have a good time or not let me know if you'd like to "sponsor" an aimlessly wandering soul who'd like more freedom to
sleep "be creative" and drink "ponder life's great truths". Contact me here on Facesbook and let me know your proposed sponsorship "level".

Now, without further ado...

What's Going On

East Village -
  • The Hose is host to FRISKY DISCO (cute masks, boys!) and DJ Aaron Elvis James' one hour mash-up set, hence this edition is aptly dubbed "Mashopolous". Go-go and Del Rio, too.

  • Mr. Karff begins his birthday celebrations tonight at HE'S A REBEL at Nowhere. Guest DJ Kevington joins him on the decks.

Where I'll (well...there's at least a 50% chance) Be

West Village -
  • I'll stop in for a guzzle at Gusto's nozzle courtesy of Mr. Williamson but it won't be a PRE-GAME affair for me...I'll likely be headed to a movie instead of a wild night out. We shall see. (Famous last words...)

SATURDAY...

What's Going On

Flatiron District -
  • Mr. Geller oversees a lavish brunching situation at 230 Fifth's CHAMPAGNE PARTY BRUNCH today and Sunday and every Saturday and Sunday. Get into the "Liquored Up French Toast". I have a feeling it won't be the only one... I'd be here but I've got to get the laundry done this morning and jet to Long Island City (reason below).
Carroll Gardens -
  • Gay Rugby star (and South Brooklyn gay-terrati), Mr. Maschi, is hosting a BROOKLYN RUGBY End of Season Fundraiser at P.J. Hanley's (adjoining South Brooklyn Pizza, home of "Fondle" gay Monday nights). $35 gets you food and beer and a warm fuzzy from being an athletic supporter (I'm assuming all who are reading this are men. If not and you're a woman, it's only $25 for that fuzz).
DUMBO -
  • Galapagos Art Space hosts a Mr. Sosa creation: FLOATING KABARETTE with Narcissister, Adam & Mia, Jenny Rocha and Her Painted Ladies, Anya and free haircuts all night long!
Lower East Side -
  • Ms. Montoya (my promotion "house" daughter. LOL) and Mr. Galindo invite you to hear Mr. Travolta spin ALL NIGHT LONG at 105 Rivington. I'm remembering the days of Preservation Loft Society soirees. Anyone with me? Anyone?
East Village -
  • Mr. Cote moves his BUDDIES party to Saturday night for once. Come see what sort of "buddy" you can find on a Saturday night as opposed to a Tuesday one...
Hell's Town -
  • Mr. Studmuffin joins a slew of party people hosting La Vasquez' (shout out to MP) NOTORIOUS Birthday Bash. Apparently this is THE party to hear what makes a Junior party a Junior party. If you're curious.

Where I'll (well...there's at least a 50% chance) Be

Long Island City -
  • Christy Love and W. Jeremy a/k/a HOUSE OF STANK will be knockin' 'em dead at P.S. 1 this afternoon (approx. 4-6). You would WANT...!!
East Village -
  • Mr. Smith is back from the town of P and joins Mr. Anders for yet another gloriously debauched ROCKET, with the sure hands of Ron Like Hell on the needle. I'll be here early and for just a moment before I DASH to...
Fashion Flatiron District! -
  • Yes, yes...mr. Black has moved YET AGAIN! It's now at the Room Service space (35 East 21st btwn Bway and Park Ave. South). Tai and I are helping break it in by guest-hosting the first TUBWAY at the new location. Come over after serving it and getting 10s across the boards (I'm looking at YOU, Mr. Mason) at the LATEX BALL (Roseland) or ROCKET (The Hose). Or wherever you would be before you come to the Black. Wherever it is that you give what you give the way you GIVE it! You know.

SUNDAY...

What's Going On

West Village -
  • Mr. Williamson advises WAKE UP BITCH! And Eat Something...especially if you've got the hangover I tend to have on a Sunday. Two price levels for brunch, one for drinkers ($35 for unlimited mimosas, bloodies, wine or prosecco and two courses) and one for those who practice moderation...or have damaged their liver the night before ($20 for one drink and two courses).
Coney Island -
  • There are a few Sunday tea events in the summer that carry on the old Body & Soul tradition (in my opinion). Interestingly enough (?) they're all outside. And no, I'm not talking ASCENSION. One of them is every Sunday on the boardwalk in Coney Island. This week's event is a special BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION for DJ Louie Gorbea. Get in.
Financial District -
  • Speaking of Body & Soul, a third of the DJ trio from that august gathering spins his popular 718 Sessions at Santos tonight.
Lower East Side -
  • Kingdom gets DDARKK at Home Sweet Home on Chrystie. Join him you dark thing.

Where I'll (well...there's at least a 50% chance) Be

Carroll Gardens -
  • Here's another of the outdoor Sunday "teas" I'm feeling...and the one I'm planning to attend: SUNDAY BEST. This week with Tim Sweeney. I really live for this party!

West Soho -
  • Desi and Lady (who will be swooping down after her gig at the new moved Josh Wood Sunday party formerly known as Ono and now known as (Roof)TOP at Hudson Terrace) dance the night away down in their disco dungeon at VANDAM.

ONGOING...

West Village -
  • Mr. McGovern's performing his GLAAD Award nominated one-man show DIRTY STUFF five times in August at the Actor's Playhouse as part of the Fringe Festival. One man, multiple personalities. You won't be able to look away! Buy tickets NOW!
Park Avenue -
  • SUMMER STREETS takes over Park Avenue and connecting streets from Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park (76th Street) the next three Saturdays - making it a pedestrian and biking mall.
Chelsea -
  • NAKED (and SIZE MATTERS) are two shows at Paul Kasmin Gallery 'til Sept. 19th that you'll want to see...well, if not both, you'll definitely want to see one.

***Special Note (Week 3)***

Paul Vitale is living upstate for the summer and is using his time to raise money for medical research on Alzheimer's Disease. He's going to walk the Memory Walk on September 26th and run the Rochester Half-Marathon and is raising donations through both at his DONATION PAGE he's created to make it easy for us all. Visit soon and help him meet his goal.

Oh! Final note: Look me up on the book o' face where I also post these listings (via notes) and where you can see all the lovely people whose names I've bolded above tagged in the note.

P-Town -

FRIDAY...

Chelsea -
  • Mr. Valin and DeMarko give it another go this week at the Chelsea Hotel...and this time it's a TWO-hour open vodka bar. KAKE...get it downstairs!

  • Another downstairs burly buffet is just up the block at SNAXX under Westside Tavern. Gus and Rich are taking a seasonal break for the month of August so better get your fill!
Williamsberghain -
  • BOYS, BOOTS & BEARDS is back with Michael T., Ricardo Studmuffin and Alon - a/k/a Zoltar - on decks and Shaquanda Coca Mulatta and myself seeing to the guests. Shaquanda will most likely be seeing double the crowd. Come squeeze one (last good time) out before the month ends!

East Village -
  • Mr. Cote's gonna split himself in two so he can be both places: FRISKY DISCO at The Hose, and BoysBootsBeards out at Hugs (the bar's his pet nightlife project!). Luckily, there're enough foxes out there (and enough time) to do both locations.
Cherry Grove -
  • Out on the Island, Mr. Sparber spins the tunes for Mr. Nardicio's BOXERS & BRIEFS Underwear Party at the Ice Palace. The pool's open late (3am) and no swimsuit's required! What else needs be said?

SATURDAY...

Williamsburg -
  • Mr. Dailey wants your bike clean. Come get it washed at his KEEP IT CLEAN BIKE WASH...cuz who wants to ride a dirty bike (Andre!?!)? There's a show, too.
Long Island City -
  • (The Original) Water Taxi Beach's THE BEACH PARTY, LIC is back and opens with DJ Abe Duque. Residents include Justin and Mr. Harkin from BKLYN Yard's Sunday Best. ...FYI.
Ft. Greene -
  • Mr. Rogenstein welcomes one and all to his loft (a/k/a 12 turn 13) for yet another HOUSE-N-HOME. Santiago Salazar and DJ Qu headline.
East Village -
  • Mother Dimpfl (a/k/a Mike D) is moving upstate and Disco Connie, Jeff Jackson, Mr. Madden and other denizens of Double-Headed Disco are waving a fond farewell/puttin' the needle on the record at FAREWELL (TO DISCO) at Nowhere Bar.
Fashion District -
  • Tai and I give you geisha guest-hosting at tonight's CASTLE at mr. Black 3. DJs Michael Magnan, Telfar and Kingdom supply the beats.

SUNDAY...

Carroll Gardens -
  • After experiencing last week's freak thunderstorm-related weather and transcendental DJ set by Omar S at SUNDAY BEST I am ALL ABOUT BKLYN Yard! This week gives you Maurice Fulton on decks and - hopefully - better/less freaky weather.
Governors Island -
  • Mr. Studmuffin hosts a "little" daytime gig for VICTOR CALDERONE...sort of a "tea with the queen" situation!
East Village -
  • Speaking of legends and queens, Chauncey D holds his 7th BEETLEJUICE wat which he's celebrating all things Madge('s va-jay-jay). Decipher which person (or thing) in that sentence is the legend and queen and bring your answer down to Nowhere Bar. Maybe you'll win something! Screening of Sex: The Film at midnight...

MONDAY...

Carroll Gardens -
  • Mere steps from my home, FONDLE takes place every Monday night at South Brooklyn Pizza. Mr. Schmich serves it up. Get in!

LOOKING FORWARD...

Carroll Gardens -
  • Literally down my block...B.E.M.P. - Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival goes all day and boasts a pretty awesome (and extensive) line-up.
East Village -
  • Don't stay too long tho, cuz it's time - once again - to visit the groovy PLANET ZiZMOR with your hosts and guides Alon, Idan and crew (including me!). All this on Saturday, August 8th!

(Plain ol') Bottom Line: Here's hoping this crazy weather a) isn't the start of the eradication of human life from earth as a result of global warming and b) is almost past us. I want sun! Have a great weekend regardless, and - as Miley Cyrus' "Aunt" Dolly reminds us - "if you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain.".

this looks FUN!
